Toothpaste & Maggots Animation
Workshop Examples
The above work was made with crayons and graphite. They were made through a workshop which I was very enthusiastic to attend. The actual workshop was run by artist Naseem Darby and lasted for 8 hours. For above piece I was not allowed to look at my piece of paper while drawing for a certain amount of time. The below piece was made by weaving plastic bags and then ironing them so that the end result would resemble our drawings. After this workshop I am happy to say I learnt of new skills which I can now comfortably harness into my school pieces such as my coursework and exam. The pieces of work were made on long strips of A2 cartridge paper.

Y13 Art Final Exam - Research Pages
This research page is for my final exam work in Y13. I am looking at Helmets & Armour for my exam. So far I have looked at fictitious helmets and armour such as Darth Vader. I was very ambitious on this specific piece of research as the main objective for the above 3D piece was to manipulate the original helmet of Darth Vader into something totally brand new, thus changing its message and meaning. The above research page has been done on A3 cartridge paper and includes pen and acrylic paint.

Y13 Art Coursework - Second Final Piece
This paining was a follow on from my previous black and white war scene. It was painted onto a very large sheet of orange roll paper (there wasn't a specific type of material to the paper) which measured around 3m from top to bottom to around 1.5m from one side to the other. I used black and white acrylics paints because they specifically brought out more depth and gave more tone in the painting.
Y13 Art Coursework - Second Final Piece
As a follow on to my Pop Art Gun Piece I made a black and white war background scene on Photoshop and included some of my own pictures. I wanted the gun in colour because it contrasted against what was happening in the scene.
Y13 Art Coursework - Second Final Piece
For my second final piece for my coursework I decided to look at the violence of guns and see how I could contrast and flip it around. The though of adding a pop art style all over a gun came to me and I instantly loved it. This way the gun would look more lighthearted and stand out . To make this piece I got hold of a toy gun and sanded it down first of all. Then I painted a section of a Lichtenstein-like piece around it. The size of this piece is 54 cm by 16.5 cm
Y13 Art Coursework - Midway through Final Piece
This is the final piece for my coursework in Y13. It is still in the halfway phase - the lid needs to be covered in tissue and PVA glue and then glued to the body. The whole thing then needs to be painted. The main body was made by modelling some mesh into the shape of the fairy liquid bottle and stuffing with newspaper inside. The whole area was then given a treatment of 2 layers of mod rock and some plaster and was then sanded in areas. The lid was made by cardboard and some plastic. The size of this model is 4 ft by 2 ft.
Y13 Art Coursework - Start of Final Piece
After drawing up plans for several ideas for a final piece for my coursework, I chose to take on the above which was the 'Hairy Liquid' concept. The idea was to make a larger than normal sculpture of a fairy liquid bottle, and instead of having clean liquid inside, it would be filled with hair and all sorts gunk. I made the above logo on Photoshop through using several effects and adding and erasing paint on areas. This logo will be used on the final piece.
Y13 Art Coursework - Idea for Final Piece (Part 2)
After knowing what kind of materials I would be using for my final piece, I had to draw up some plans for an actual final piece. The main things for these ideas were that they had to be look quite 'pop arty' when finished, they had to contrast, and they had to be something which is small or used everyday. Above are some of the ideas. They were a pair of shoes with teeth, a hammer with fur, a torch with actual fire, a fork with real fingers, and a banana skin with a pop art design and some spikes or a knife sticking out instead of the actual banana.

Y13 Art Coursework - Metal Burger Maquette
To tie in with my contrasting pieces of work (such as my toothpaste & maggots piece) I made a maquette of a metal burger. The concept came to me by thinking of something which was quite soft to eat (a burger) and make an opposite of it, hence the metal burger with its jagged edges. Materials used were: Bun-Mesh & Newspaper, Tomatoes-Thick Metal Wire, Cheese Slice & Lettuce-Can, Burger-Aluminum Foil. The size of this maquette is 11cm by 11cm.
Y13 Art Coursework - Toothpaste & Maggots Maquette
To experiment on what type of materials I could use for my final piece for Y13 coursework, I made a miniature maquette based on my toothpaste and maggots idea. The materials I experimented on were mesh, mod rock, paper machie and glue, tissue paper for the tube, and then for the maggots I experimented on clay, plasticine and paper pulp. In the end I decided to go with mesh and tissue paper for the tube and clay for the maggots.
Y13 Art Coursework - Toothpaste & Maggots idea
These are some ideas from my more recent coursework. I have studied several artists on pop art but chose specifically to look at the giant pop art sculptures of Claes Oldenberg and the classic pop art style of Roy Lichtenstein and tried to bring their styles together - making little objects in a bigger sculpture and adding a pop art style to some of them. To make these pieces my own, I wanted to make the object contrast with something - in this case toothpaste with maggots as, well, you wouldn't really like them to come out of your toothpaste tube!
Y12 Art Exam Piece - 'SuperDrug' - Comic Book Page
This project named 'SuperDrug' was part of my final exam piece in Y12. The message is about drug abuse and how the homeless man injects drugs and then thinks he is Superman, but in fact it is a hallucination. This piece was created with a range of materials. The idea was, as the man goes deeper into the hallucination the more animated the picture will be. All the photos were my own and were Photoshopped, as for the drawings I used A2 cartridge paper, acrylic paint and marker pens.
Y12 Art Coursework - Converse Branded Torso
Paper machie torso which was moulded over a mannequin and painted with acrylic paint. The inspiration for this piece came from the artist Liberty E. Moore who designed and created small models of the body (similar to the above piece) and painted over it in a pop art style. Some of his pieces included branding such as the Coca Cola logo.
Y12 Media Coursework - Action Adventure Genre Film DVD Cover
For this project I had to first look deeply into the action adventure genre. I looked at the target audience and did lots of pre-production research which included looking at action adventure film trailers, posters, websites and directors. After my pre-production research I had to create my own film which included the film's title, a synopsis for the storyline, a poster, and a DVD cover (above).
Y12 Media Coursework - Action Adventure Genre Film Poster

This poster was designed and created using my own photographs which were then manipulated in Photoshop by using a range of effects.
